Viridian Sentinel

A character design done for my final last week. There were two more, but I don't like how they turned out so this is all I'm posting for now.

The Viridian Sentinel is a character in the story I created for this project. It exists in a world where magic flows through the earth in veins, relative to different regions. Each region is watched over by a Sentinel, which is a powerful spirit that is made up entirely by the magical ether of the area. These Sentinels regulate the flow of magic in their region and bestow upon its inhabitants certain boons and gifts.

This Sentinel is earth aligned, and its region is lush and full of life. It exports food to less fortunate regions and has amassed considerable power because of this. Angered by centuries of imbalanced power, a rival clan of the fire-aligned Cinnabar Region attacks the Viridian Sentinel in an attempt to steal its power for themselves. They succeed in shattering it, and its fragments fall to the earth, forming into small animals. One manages to escape, finding the main character of the story, a farmer named Shay. Together they embark on a journey to reunite the fragments of the Sentinel and restore balance to the world.

And that's all I got on the story, haha. We had a week to finish this whole project. I didn't quite finish but my professor seemed to like it at least. I have a design for a water spirit bouncing around, so I might draw that eventually! I've decided that I very much enjoy creature design.
